Building Your Online Business

Hi everyone,

I just thought I’d make a quick post about building your online business. Now, this may seem like a somewhat generic or vague topic but bear with me, all will become clear (I hope!)

The key word I want to focus on is “building”. If you’re already a successful Marketer then you’re likely already doing what’s necessary and this won’t be for you. But if you’re someone who’s starting out or wanting to get started then what I’m about to cover here is vital to bear in mind.

As I’ve already mentioned elsewhere on my site I’ve been trying for many years to make money online but, until recently, to no avail. The question is then, why have I not been successful? I have bought and studied many different products and courses but still, I have failed to get anywhere. Does this mean that the products and courses were bad? Not necessarily. Sometimes they assumed prior knowledge of certain things and this could be discouraging as I would get to a point and think, “Okay, I believe that this stuff works, but it’s all very well saying ‘do such-and-such’ but exactly HOW do I do it!?” or, in fact, sometimes the products actually contained TOO much information! I have courses that I can go back to now and I go, “Aha! That’s so obvious to me now, but back then there was no way I’d have realised this”. Yes, the information was great but it wasn’t always laid out in a clear, easy way for absolute beginners to follow and take action upon.

Another important factor was that sometimes I’d come across a certain instruction in a given course and think that I knew better and that I couldn’t see how a particular strategy was relevant, so I’d become discouraged because I felt that I was hitting a brick wall. In these instances I was hitting a brick wall, but it was one of my own making.

So then, what is the important thing to bear in mind as a beginner? Firstly, don’t expect success to happen overnight. Secondly, if you don’t see immediate results, don’t become discouraged. You are building a business and that is exactly what you need to do – build. You cannot build without a firm foundation. So take one step at a time. For example, don’t think about having a multi-product sales funnel with upsells, downsells and cross-sells all over the place, or a high-ticket membership site if you don’t even know how to set up an autoresponder. There are lots of ‘business-in-a-box’ type offers out there and some of them are very good. But if you’re a beginner, to have a complete, ready-to-go business may seem attractive but more often than not you’ll likely find that there’s so much information thrown at you all at once then you’ll get instant overload and you’ll likely not do anything with it. It’s much more practical to learn how to effectively set up and use a blog, use your autoresponder, how to get traffic, build your list, build relationships with your subscribers and visitors, etc than trying to fathom out a whole business all at once. In fact, that short list of things I just mentioned can, if thought about all at once, can appear daunting and overwhelming to a beginner. But if you take each component on at a time and become familiar with it before moving on to the next, then you are building a good foundation upon which to build further and you will be much more likely to have a long-term successful business.

I’ve mentioned it before and, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, there are banners all over the place plugging the Quick Start Challenge, but this is something that I have gone through personally and I can vouch that it works. Will it make you a millionaire in a week? Highly unlikely, but then again it doesn’t claim this. What it will do is give a broken-down, step-by-step approach to building your online business for long-term success. As I emphasised in my introduction video, I will only ever promote products here that I strongly believe in and have used myself. Also I will always be open and honest, so I have absolutely no problem in disclosing that I am currently in a business partnership with Dean Holland so naturally I have a vested interest in promoting his products. But rest assured that there is NO way at all that I would risk my reputation on recommending anyone or anything that doesn’t meet a high standard! If Dean wasn’t genuine and if his products weren’t of the highest quality then I would not have anything to do with them, let alone publicly broadcast any affiliation! At the end of the day, everyone is different and certain people relate in different ways to different people, so while one person may ‘gel’ with a particular mentor another may not but may well do so with someone else. But all I can say is that Dean’s methods work, it’s as simple as that. I have proven it myself. So I hope that you’ll check out the link to his video and get some awesome value from it:

Just as a final thought about the struggles of getting started in the world of Internet Marketing, as someone who has struggled for many years and who has only recently learned how to sort things out and finally start moving forward, I know and understand only too well the different challenges, discouragements and pitfalls that newbies face. Therefore I’m currently working on something that I hope will benefit those who, like me, have struggled, are struggling or just don’t know where to start. Keep checking back for details about this, I’m excited to get it out to you! πŸ™‚ While it’s true that there is some fantastic information out there, such as what you can obtain through the banners to Dean Holland’s and Alex Jeffreys’ videos that I have on this site, if I can provide an additional source for you to learn and benefit from then all the better! Plus it will be based on personal experience and testimony gained from what I have actually put into practice myself and from which I have seen results. So as I said, this is currently in development so if there’s something that you would specifically like to know or would like help with then leave a comment below and I’ll see about including it πŸ™‚

  1. Hey Jerry, thanks so much for stopping by my friend πŸ™‚ It’s a shame that it’s taken me so long to filter through the dross and actually find good, decent marketers such as Alex and Dean. Lee McIntyre, Rich Schefren and Frank Kern are others from whom I’ve learned some great stuff also. It’s kind of ironic that their methods are so often criticized by a few, however the results speak for themselves. You absolutely HAVE to build your business. Too many people are looking for ‘systems’ and easy options with some kind of breakthrough software that does practically everything for you. They don’t get the results from this kind of stuff and yet scorn people like Alex and Dean for teaching stuff that actually works! This was one of the first things that I remember learning from Alex and probably the most important thing, the fact that you have to understand and build the basics of a business. As you know, people like Alex don’t give magic formulae or ‘systems’, they provide valuable knowledge, insight and training that’s based on personal experience of techniques that just work, plain and simple. What Alex teaches in “Forward to Basics” was an absolute revelation to me, yet it’s so simple and obvious when you take a step back and think about it. I haven’t had any success through all the years I’ve bought into various systems, software, etc yet after just a few short weeks of learning and implementing the teachings of Alex and Dean I am seeing the results. You certainly can’t substitute valuable training and knowledge

  2. That’s a great post Glenn. It’s great to see you starting to implement the things that you are learning from Dean and Alex. Both are great teachers and mentors that care about the success of their students. It’s also awesome to know that you are getting traction in your business and starting to lay down a plan for your own product(s) in the not so distant future. Rock on bro and looking forward to seeing what you bring to the market.

  3. Hi Glenn,

You are right to make a point about building a business. That is what all successful internet marketers have done adn that is what they teach.

There is no short cut to making money online although many still look for that magic button.
Many of us have been there and got sucked into these make a quick buck schemes but as we have found out they don’t work or last.

Building a business online one brick at a time is the way to go.

    1. Hi Sandy,

Thanks for visiting again πŸ™‚ I think that it’s so important to look beyond the money. I especially like something Alex Jeffreys says: “Don’t chase money, let money chase you”. If we put in the effort to build the business and focus on this then everything else will come with time. But if we’re always thinking about striving to get money then we’ll likely end up disappointed because the results rarely come that quickly
