0$ to $2000 in 60 Days – Can it be Done?

0$ to $2000 in 60 Days - Can it be Done?Hi everyone!

Like me, I’m sure that you’ve come across outlandish claims during your time on the Internet, especially if you’ve been looking for a way to make money online, right?

You know the kind of thing, various products with hooks such as, “How to Make $2947.62 in 2 Days!” Are those kind of results REALLY even possible? Well, perhaps with some sort of freak set of ideals circumstances, maybe there are ways to do it. I have yet to find one and I haven’t come across any genuine, successful Internet Marketer who has laid claim to finding one either.

But what about the title of this post – is it really possible to make $2000 from nothing in 60 days? That’s a more of conservative set of numbers, no? Well, starting from today, this is what I aim to find out! Let me explain…

On Wednesday of this week I, along with other partners of Dean Holland’s License Rights program, was on a webinar with the man himself. He announced that he had come up with an idea for a challenge for us all – to try to go from $0 to $2000 in 60 days. There were a couple of stipulations: we have to put in a minimum of just 60 minutes work each day and start with a budget of no more than $100.

Now, each of us has different levels of experience, differing finances and are at different stages in our respective businesses, but the idea is that we all start from pretty much the same point, that of where a total beginner would start. So, if we didn’t have the essentials already, then we would need to buy a domain name, hosting, autoresponder and get a WordPress blog set up. We would start by using totally free methods to drive traffic to our blogs. Hence, all of us should be on pretty much an equal footing, spending no more than $100 in the process.

I, like most of the other partners, already have a blog set up, so I shall be using this to document my activities and my progress. And to keep it fair I will be classing it as though I’ve made fresh purchases, so with my domain registration, my year’s hosting and two months’ autoresponder fees, I think that pretty much leaves me dry from a starting budget of $100! lol!

0$ to $2000 in 60 Days - Can it be Done?

So what have I been doing today? Well, I took my timer, set it to count down from 60 minutes and I got to work posting solidly on the Warrior Forum for that hour. I didn’t spam, I didn’t post garbage, I didn’t even mention the challenge. I’ve got the link to my website in my forum signature so I’ve just been relying on getting interest and exposure by means of contributing posts of value by answering questions and getting involved with discussions.

After the 60 minutes were up I took a break for a few minutes and then I did a bit more.

I then took a break for lunch and then set my timer again to count down from 60 minutes and I spent an hour blog-hopping, going from blog to blog and leaving comments. Again, no spam, no rubbish, only comments of value that were relevant and contributed to the post.

So that’s it for today. I shall be posting here every day to keep you up-to-date with what I’ve been doing and how everything’s going, so I’d love it if you’d check back and leave your comments. Also, if you would like to receive notifications via e-mail then feel free to subscribe by entering your details in the box to the right.

One thing I’d like to mention about setting the timer is that this kept me focused no end. I had a goal, I had a plan as to how I was going to proceed and I had a fixed time scale. I didn’t check my e-mails, Facebook or allow anything else to distract me. On the occasions where I did need to stop (such as for toilet breaks or letting the cat out!) then I stopped the timer and then started it again when I resumed. I feel that I accomplished much more by using this method than by just sitting at my computer and seeing what I could get done. In turn, I feel much more satisfied with the time I spent. This is an approach that I have been meaning to implement but have never got around to doing so. I definitely wish that I had done so sooner. And where have I heard this before? Who was it that said that you should work in allotted time slots and use a timer? Oh yes, it was Alex Jeffreys!

So I shall leave it there for now and update you with another post tomorrow. Don’t forget to leave your comments below! And if you want a challenge of your own then I can’t recommend highly enough another one by Dean Holland:

  1. This sounds so interesting to me. Can you please tell me where I can find out more about this program or coaching because through what you share I found it really motivating and practical for Internet-lifestyle seekers to achieve their goals!

    1. Hi again Anh,

Thanks for visiting and posting again 🙂 Thanks also for enquiring about the program.

I’m a License Rights Partner with the very successful online marketer, Dean Holland. The 60 day challenge is an experiment that a few of the partners decided to undertake to see if we could reach our target with nothing more than starting with free methods and a budget of no more than $100. However, the techniques and methods that we are using are all based on the proven coaching provided in Dean Holland’s fantastic Quick Start Challenge program.

If you click on the banner at the bottom of this blog post, or the blue box on the right of the page that says “Free Video”, then you can get some more information about it 🙂

I’m so glad that you’ve found what I’ve been posting to be helpful. As you can see if you scan through my blog, I post here quite regularly and I always try to offer content that’s interesting and useful. It’s late right now so I’m off to bed, but look out for another blog post tomorrow (Thursday) that I’m hoping will, again, be interesting and helpful for everyone 😉

  2. Wow Glen, this is some serious content here my friend. I have been telling myself that I was going to start time blocking my online tasks as well. I noticed in the past whenever I have done this offline, I’m a lot more productive and it just plain feels good. I’m actually blog hopping right now, so I’ll see you again soon my friend.

Hope to see you again buddy 🙂

  3. Hey Matt,

Thanks for your comment buddy. Yes you’re right, with everything so easily and quickly accessible it’s so easy to think, “I’ll just do this for a moment”. In fact, so much so that we usually don’t even think it, it comes automatically! That’s why I think the disciplined, structured approach is such a good one. It’s certainly something I’ll be using from now on

  4. Great post, I’ve never done the timer before but I will now try it! I do easily start doing 5 things at a time online, I’m not sure it ever gets more done. We have one of the hardest jobs ever to not get distracted doing, right!? It’s like, damn, everything in the world is one click away and I just thought of….oh wait I’m supposed to be…..u get it, keep it up

  5. Hi all,

Seeing as the last few comments all mention the same subject I figured I’d just write the one reply and hopefully answer everyone in the one post 🙂

I realised that I didn’t explain more specifically how I spent my time. Essentially, I was just doing something that I normally do anyway, this isn’t a new technique for me. But the whole thing with the timer is something that Alex Jeffreys suggests and, until today, is something that I haven’t done. I found that actually structuring my time in this way gave me more focused and I probably accomplished more in 60 minutes of forum posting/blog-hopping than I would normally during 60 minutes without the structured, focused, timed approach.

With regards to Sandy’s question about the number of posts/comments, I really don’t know how many I made. Probably not an enormous number because, as you say, 60 minutes isn’t really a great deal of time to do everything. However the technique I employed (which I always do) with the WF is I looked through the forum for subjects that interested me or that I felt I could contribute to. When I found one I opened each one in a new tab in Firefox so I had them each side by side within my browser. Once I had done this it was the actual reading through them and commenting that I did with the 60 minute countdown. However, I can read/scan very quickly so to look through the thread titles and then read through the posts takes me hardly any time at all.

I took a similar approach with blog-hopping. I use a Firefox plugin called Roomy Bookmarks and within this a have a folder containing bookmarks for about 25-30 blogs that I check out regularly. I opened up a few of these, again each in a new tab and then within each blog I went through the posts made by other people and opened up their webpages each in a new tab. Again, I set the timer off and went through them one by one. As I said, this is my usual approach but I was much more focused with the countdown in place and the determined goal of only tackling the task at hand.

Dita, I think you’re right about searching for additional ways to drive traffic. This is something I’ve already been looking into, such as using the likes of Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. I haven’t done so much with any of these yet as, with the exception of Twitter, they’re all pretty new to me and even Twitter is something I haven’t explored to a huge degree. No doubt we’ll be able to pick up some tips from Craig as we go along 😉 I notice from Sandy’s CommentLuv link that she’s recently made a post about Pinterest and I have this open in a fresh tab right now as we speak 😉

Finally, I think Jerry makes an important point about the quality of our posts. Of course it’s good to have a large number of posts but it’s ultimately the quality that counts. So if your time is somewhat limited and you can only manage the minimum requirement of 60 minutes each day then I think it would be far better to make the posts that you’re able to post in that time period good quality ones rather than worry about getting a large number and not then generate much interest due to sacrificing quality.

Thanks everyone for your support and comments, this is all exciting isn’t it? 🙂

  6. Sandy, I would say its not so much about the quantity of the post as much as it is about the quality of the post. I think it’s ok to be thoughtful and purposeful and not just post for the sake of getting your count up.

  7. Hi Glen,

excellent report. Essentially you are saying that you spent 60 minutes on WF and 60 minutes commenting.

Both commenting on blogs and on a forum is very time consuming as it takes time to read the post or the thread and provide a decent comment. The most time consuming is to read the blog post.

I believe that if 60 minutes only is the suggested goal ( I know the option is more than 60 minutes if one has the time) one will have to search for other free traffic methods to achieve this goal?

What would be your thoughts on that?

    Take care,

    Dita

    Hi Glenn

That’s a great post mate. I liked the idea of a countdown timer. I found my hour shot by, as it took longer than I thought to have a read through various posts that I felt i could contribute to, but it also took time to read previous comments made on the posts so that I got the big picture and didn’t duplicate any content.

    Keep it up mate…

  9. Hey Glenn,

I am curious as to how many posts on the Warrior Forum you were able to make in an hour and how many blog comments.

We went out for the day today but was able to put in a hour when we got back. I am not sure how many posts I made but it didn’t seem many.

Even though I click on the latest posts it takes time for me to find posts where I can be among one of the first to respond or add something useful to the conversation so my name and sig file is seen.

The same applies to blogs. That takes me even longer as it takes time to read enough of the post to leave a thoughtful and informative comment.

Glad to see action takers, motivating others to get up on their feets and achieve some great results and success they had wanted. I will be checking back for daily updates. Lets make it happen, it can be done.

    1. Hi Sharon,

Yes I, too, was amazed at how quickly the time passed. And that was when I was actually focused on what I was doing! Imagine what happens without that focus? It goes to show just what a difference that focus and discipline makes and just how much time we can waste and how little we may accomplish without it!

  11. Nice post Glenn. We pretty much had the same game plan on yesterday. I too set my iPad timer to 60 minutes and went to town in the WF. It was definitely a much needed discipline for me. I too thought about what Alex told us and it was very good advice.

It keeps you from checking email and jumping on Facebook to get the latest updates. Great start my man and ill be checking up on ya.
